Auricular Acupuncture
Auricular acupuncture is an effective treatment for acute or chronic illnesses. All organs in the body have corresponding reflex zones in the ears. The French physician Dr. Paul Nogier presented a map using a fetal Homunculus as its basis, which was intended to serve as a simple schema for orientation purposes.
There are two different systems of auricular acupuncture: the French and the Chinese.
In my practice, I work with the French system. Dr. Paul Nogier developed French auricular acupuncture, or auriculotherapy, in the 1950s and found many possibilities for diagnosis and therapy. He replaced the practice of cauterisation of the outer ear with puncturing the ear with needles, and observed similarly good results.
Applications
When various points in the patient's ear are stimulated during the diagnosis, the precise tenderness is considered, which determines which organs of the body are affected.
After a prior detailed diagnosis, the patient lies down for the therapy treatment and 1-5 needles are inserted per session. The needles remain in the ear for 20 to 30 minutes. Semi-permanent needles or pressure patches with seeds can also be used.
